Well done to everyone involved in The Wight Trash Transitions CD launch party on Bank Holiday Sunday at the Winter Gardens.
It went down a storm.
After costs, over £500 was raised for Ventnor Skatepark, and every penny will go back into the materials and hire of equipment needed to bring the skate park back into use.
Over 200 people came along and showed their support, and with the big variety of music played live and on vinyl, there was definitely something for everyone.
Despite some mic problems on their first track, The Waxworks (pictured above and below) pulled off a superb debut performance and we can’t wait to see more from them over the coming months. The promises of identities being hidden behind balaclavas was only executed by the lead Waxman.
All the other bands, Finger Monster, The Chancers and The Shanklin Freak Show put in huge effort with their sets and this was greatly appreciated by the audience.
DJs, Lektroluxe, Louis Soteriou & George Cross also did a great job during the band changeovers.
Special thanks goes to all those bands and DJs who gave their time freely for the benefit of the Skate Park Funds, but also thanks goes out to David and Chris from The Winter Gardens, who helped considerably to make things go as smoothly as possible.
Lots of people donated prizes for the Celebrity Memorabilia Raffle, so cheers to everyone who did and also those who bought raffle tickets. Lots of people went home very happy.
Well done to Bone and Rosie who provided some great visuals for the image projections and thanks goes also to Fran Heath and Abi MacRobert who we manned the entrance with, selling CDs and raffle tickets.
James and Sarah, the Door Staff, did a great job making sure that under 18s received the correct wristbands and making sure that there was no funny business going on. Nice one to John from Happy Daze for the loan of equipment.
Almost last but not least, thanks to Jack Phoenix, Luke Ellison, Abi MacRobert, Bob, Roger Regular, Hev (IOW Radio) and John Cattle for documenting event – footage to appear soon on Wight Trash Films. We’ll have more photos from the night coming on VB soon.
Finally, very special thanks go out to The Shanklin Freak Show and Nick Painless for sorting out sound system.
We hope that more of these events will be organised, but the next job is to sell as many of the limited edition CDs that we can. If you haven’t got yours yet, make sure you sort it out before they all go.
