Executives from the RMT met this morning to discuss the proposed industrial action of Wightlink staff, following claims of unfair dismissal of a union rep.
At the end of last week, the sacked Wightlink employee, Paul Kelly, appealed for the strike to not be carried out in his name.
RMT General Secretary Bob Crow said, “As a result of our sacked member securing a job elsewhere in the industry the planned strike action on Wightlink ferries is off.” The finished, the RMT will be making no further comment.
It’s unclear if the Christmas Eve or Boxing day services will be resumed by Wightlink after they made the decision of suspend the services in the wake of the threat of strike action. We’re contacting Wightlink to find out.
