Wightlink is launching its Green Innovation Fund to help make the Isle of Wight more sustainable.
This is an opportunity for groups of Islanders to make a real difference in their community by coming up with a good idea for sustainable and environmentally friendly projects that will help cut carbon emissions and reduce our use of fossil fuels. Wightlink has a £10,000 fund to share between the best applications.
Greenfield: Empowering and supporting Island communities
Wightlink Chief Executive, Keith Greenfield, said,
“The Green Innovation Fund is all about empowering and supporting Island communities to push boundaries and advance towards a more sustainable future.
“Whether you have a groundbreaking idea, a project already in progress, or a desire to make a difference, we want to hear from you.
“Together, we can make a meaningful impact. The Wightlink Green Innovation Fund is not just a financial grant—it’s a commitment to our shared future.”
A leader in combating climate change
Wightlink is already a leader in combating climate change. The ferry company already operates England’s first hybrid energy ship, Victoria of Wight.
It is installing solar panels to generate electricity from sunshine and continually strives to increase recycling rates.
What is Wightlink looking for?
- Projects that bring people together to make a positive impact on the environment.
- Applications which include both immediate and long-term commitments to create a more sustainable Isle of Wight.
- Projects that use technology to improve energy efficiency or encourage more people to conserve energy or use less of it.
- Original thinking; something innovative. Maybe your idea is something that’s never been done on the Isle of Wight?
- Projects that lead the way for others. Will it inspire other people to follow your lead, so there’s a wider benefit to the Island?
