Debut for photosharing competition
#wightlive was a photosharing competition on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram which brought together some of the Isle of Wight’s best loved events over summer 2014. The aim was to engage with visitors to the Island, getting them to share their experiences with tweets, posts and images on Facebook and Twitter.
The campaign was bound together with the wightlive hashtag, which was used thousands of times. In total, 2,202 photos were uploaded into Wightlink’s special gallery, using Polaroid style frames designed to best showcase each event.
Hannah said,
“I am thrilled to have won the #wightlive competition, particularly as this was my first ever visit to the Isle of Wight.
“We had a brilliant time at the Isle of Wight Festival, the music and atmosphere were great and we managed to spend a bit of time looking around the Island as well. I thought at the time how much I would like to return and now, thanks to Wightlink Ferries’ amazing competition, I am going to be able to – not once – but six times.”
Mark Persad, Head of Marketing for Wightlink Ferries added,
“We are very pleased with the success of #wightlive.
“Over the months that it ran we saw interest and sharing on our social media channels rocket, with follower numbers increasing by 155 per cent. But most importantly we wanted to showcase just what the Island has to offer in a visual and relevant way. Hannah’s superb picture demonstrates this perfectly and we are not only delighted she has won but we also cannot wait to host her on our beautiful Island again in 2015.”
