Witness Appeal In Rookley Road Traffic Collision

Police TapePolice are appealing for more witnesses to a road traffic collision on the main road at Rookley on the Isle of Wight.

A bus and a motorcycle were involved in the collision, which took place at approximately 7.50am on Thursday, September 29, 2011 near ‘D J Hunt wholesalers’.

Serious injuries
The motorcyclist, a 20-year-old man from Shanklin, Isle of Wight, received serious injuries, which were initially treated as life-threatening at the collision scene.

He was taken to hospital where he remains at this time. His injuries are now described as being very serious but not life threatening.

The bus driver, a man aged in his 50s from the Isle of Wight, was shocked but not injured by the collision. He gave a statement to police on Thursday. No one else was travelling on the bus.
