Police were called to a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A3054 in Yarmouth at 9.38pm on Friday, October 11.
The collision involved a red Citroen Xsara and a blue Daihatsu Quore.
A 28-year-old woman from Totland was taken to hospital but subsequently died of her injuries. Her next of kin have been informed.
The other driver
The driver of the second vehicle, a 26-year old man from Newport is currently being treated in hospital. His injuries are not serious.
The road was closed last night to allow police to investigate the collision.
