A Wroxall parent has just launched her first children’s storybook, Once Upon a Little Robin, and dedicated it to the Primary School and Pre-School (the Wroxall Robins) that are threatened with closure.
Hazel Wood says she hopes that the book would “bring a little hope and love during our time of uncertainty”.
She stresses how genuinely important the school and nursery is to the “little Robins” — a pet name for the preschoolers — and the community.
Once Upon a Little Robin
Once Upon a Little Robin is a sweet-tale adventure in the life of a little Robin born into a world of wonder.
He is a curious little Robin, He finds himself growing up in the beautiful world of Mother Nature, when one day he’s stumbles across a humble rural school nestled in a quaint little village.
Lost in fun and play, friendships and adventure, Little Robin finds more than he could ever imagine in this new place of the curious and untold.
The large print paperback book is priced at £9.99 and can be purchased via Amazon.
Threat of closure
Wroxall Primary is one of five primary schools on the Isle of Wight that has been earmarked for possible closure. Staff and parents at the school and pre-school have been very proactive in campaigning to save the school, taking part in rallies and sharing their thoughts via Letters to the Editor.
Hazel believes the mental health of Wroxall pupils is strongly supported, and happiness in their education is a massive priority by all school staff. She argues that the Robins may not get that support again if the school is forced to close.
The subject of school closures will be put before councillor via the Extraordinary Full Council meeting taking place on Wednesday 29th January.
