SNAP nights have been running all over the Mainland since 2000, providing drug, alcohol and tobacco free events for youngsters to enjoy.
They have now become one of the most popular under 18 nights and this first event on the Island is being opened by two X-Factor groups, The Brooks and Fifth Street – all thanks to PCSO Steve Hull, from Ryde.
It takes place at Planet Ice in Ryde which has a capacity of 2,500, so there’ll be plenty of room for everyone.
What is SNAP?
If you don’t already know, SNAP stands for ‘Say No And Phone.’ It’s targeted at 11-16 year olds and advises them that if they ever get offered illegal substances or are put in a situation where drugs or alcohol are around, just SAY NO and PHONE the Crime Stoppers number on 0800 555 111
Hampshire Constabulary pride themselves on providing young people with a safe, trouble-free night where they can dance, skate or chill out in an environment where they don’t have to worry about being offered drugs or alcohol.
They’re always on hand for young people to talk to if they want to, and there are prizes on the night for remembering the Crime Stoppers number.
Gather your friends
If your sons and daughters are bored of hanging out down at the park, or they just fancy doing something a bit different on a Friday night, why not point them in the direction of SNAP?
The event takes place on 21st November between 7pm-10pm and you can buy tickets in advance from Planet Ice (01983) 615155 or by visiting the Website. Tickets are priced at £7 which includes skating and one free game of bowling at Superbowl (you must phone to pre-book).
