Many thanks to Nikki Collison, who you may remember from the Rowathon Challenge for sharing details of this important fundraising challenge she has organised. It’s a really worthy cause and she’s only asking for £1 per person. Ed
As a ‘Thank You’ for all the Island support we receive for our work in Uganda, we would like to raise £1,500 for a Cuddle Cot for the Bereavement Unit at St Mary’s Hospital Maternity Department.
The loss of a baby is so deeply painful. For many parents they are saying hello and goodbye in such a short amount of time before their baby has to be taken from them.
A Cuddle Cot allows time to say goodbye
I recently found out about the existence of a Cuddle Cot, which is a cooling system that allows the family of the baby that has passed to stay with them for longer, so enabling the family to spend precious time with their baby to say goodbye properly and to also aid with the grieving process.
Our local hospital, St Mary’s, does not have a Cuddle Cot and so I wish to raise enough money for the Bereavement Unit to have one. This cot will enable a family to have the choice to spend longer with their baby should they wish to.
Need to raise £1,500
It’s about choice and for me I know that if anything had happened to my daughter, I would have begged for as much time as possible to be with her. The cost of the cot is £1,500. I am asking my friends, family, colleagues, mums, dads and anyone who knows me to donate £1 and I am using the Just Giving facilities of my ACDT charity to raise this money to buy this equipment as a small token THANK YOU to the people of the Isle of Wight for their continued support of my work.
It’s a piece of equipment we all hope we will never need. But for those that do, it could make an awful time, the most precious time they will ever have.
How to donate
When you text £1 the ACDT will receive 100% of your donation and will collect it ready to buy the cot once the target is met.
Simply text CCIW99 £1 to 70070
You will receive an automated response from the African Childrens Develop confirming your donation and asking to boost the contribution with Gift Aid.
