Positive action by National Trust to increase Culver safety

Plans are afoot to make it more difficult for cars to gain access to the edge of the cliff at Culver Down.

The move comes following the Inquest of Keir Atkins. Tragically, his body was found at the foot of Culver Cliff in December 2014.

A report in the County Press today (Friday) reveals that Keir’s family had asked the Coroner to appeal to the National Trust to do something to make it more difficult for cars to access the cliff edge. It was suggested that banks could be built up along the edge of the road.

Positive response from NT
A spokeswoman for the National Trust told the CP,

“The National Trust, in discussions with HM Coastguard is looking at ways to make it more difficult for car drivers to gain access to the cliffs – one of these options could be to build up the bank.

“Work will be carried out this year.”

enjoyed the observations during this struggle with attachment and all that comes with it. Liked the seasonality of it too, so many cycles of nature and in this case vegetable season just always repeating come what may, wherever it may.
