Ofsted inspectors visited Gurnard Pre-School in Cowes last month (March 2016) to carry out an inspection.
The findings have been published by Ofsted today and reveal that they give an overall rating of ‘Good’ to the pre-school with an ‘Outstanding’ rating for Personal development, behaviour and welfare.
Highlights from report
The report states the provision is good because:
- The manager completes regular monitoring of children’s achievements to track their progress and to identify and address any gaps in their learning. Staff make good use of additional funding to obtain resources that help to support children’s school readiness.
- Children have excellent relationships with staff. They are very happy, settle easily and are keen and eager to explore the range of activities and exciting experiences on offer.
- Children who have special educational needs receive good support. Staff use specific advice from other professionals and vary their teaching methods for each individual child. This helps children to catch up and make good progress.
- There are effective partnerships with schools and other early years professionals. For example, staff work closely with them to help prepare children for their move to school.
- Parents speak highly of the pre-school and how well staff know their children.
- Children have many opportunities to develop an understanding of the world around them and the differences between themselves and others. They learn to consider each other’s feelings, ideas and opinions.
