Congratulations to Mrs Marjorie Bligh-Wall (nee Radley-Young) who celebrated her 105 birthday on Saturday in Ventnor.
Living most of her life in Zimbabwe and South Africa after having been born in Kent in 1903 — during the reign of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra — Mrs Bligh-Wall returned to the UK aged 95.
Ten years later she’s still going strong – perhaps helped by the Ventnor air?
Her family gathered together on Saturday around a cake to celebrate, a little more relaxing than the helicopter trip she too to mark her 100th birthday.
Margaret Wright, Director of South Wight Housing Association that oversee Byrnhill Grove, the home where Mrs Bligh-Wall now lives said,
“All of my staff congratulate Mrs Bligh-Wall and wished her a very happy birthday. The team at Byrnhill celebrated her with a birthday tea surrounded by her friends and family. She has led a remarkable life. Her longevity is clearly as a result of leading an inspired life and a positive response to the care that she is receiving from my staff.”
