Ryde Inshore Rescue were paged by Solent Coastguard last night to go to the aid of a 47′ motor cruiser which had run aground.
The crew of Ryde Rescue 1 were soon on scene, and convinced the skipper not to continue his passage to Sweden, but to berth at Ryde Harbour overnight and to re-evaluate their plans in the morning.
The vessel had just been collected from Poole, and the crew were unfamiliar with the equipment on board.
An anchor was laid to prevent drifting whilst the tide rose, then Ryde Rescue 1 escorted the vessel “Eternity” in to Ryde Harbour, where strong words of advice were given to the vessel’s skipper by members of HM Coastguard.
