Hey, you all know that we feel that way, but you don’t need to just take our word for it now, Harpers Bazaar Magazine last week (in the July issue) published their choice of the hippest hangouts in the world and the Isle of Wight made it onto the list (natch).
Not having a copy of the magazine at VB HQ, we got straight onto the publishing company for more details.
So why do they think the Island is so cool?
Well, Sienna Miller and Kate Moss are named as being two of the coolest cats to make their way down to the vintage clothing shops in Ventnor (that’ll be Suzes Room on Pier Street then) and the crazy bonkers Bestival (it’s not too late to get your tickets) gets a credit for adding to the hipness. Not to mention the gorgeous new lighthouse at Steephill Cove and the ‘great choice of cool, inexpensive places to stay’.
The picture editor made some great choices of images to reflect the ‘cool tag’, with a glorious shot of Ventnor beach and the fabulous Vintage Vacations airstream trailers.
So who were we pipped alongside you might ask. Well only the likes of Montenegro, Sicily, Lyme Regis (which we think has undergone an amazing transformation that Ventnor could do well to follow), Palermo in Argentina, Trancoso in Brazil, the wonderful Tangiers in Morocco and last but not least Saint Jean de Luz.
Once again excellent news for the Isle of Wight – let’s make sure we retain that tag for as long as we can.
