We just managed to rush down to the eastern esplanade in time to catch some shots and join others cheering on Richard Beardsall as he passed Ventnor.
He’s been going since 10pm last night on his round Island swim and although he’s more than half way round, still has some way to go before he reaches the finish point in Ryde tonight.
It looked as though every two strokes he takes he’s being pushed back one, making it a hard task to battle against the strong currents in the South of the Island.
