Isle of Wight council chairman highlights women’s empowerment on International Women’s Day

On International Women’s Day, Chairman of Isle of Wight council, Karl Love, shares his thoughts,

“Our Isle of Wight council and Island is full of amazing women working for the good of us all. This year’s International Women’s Day theme calls for action that can unlock equal rights, power and opportunities for all and a feminist future where no one is left behind.

“Central to this vision is empowering the next generation of young women and adolescent girls—as catalysts for lasting change.”

Councillor Love went on to say,

“The women in the frontline of County Hall, in the reception and contact hub are faced daily with people asking for support and help.  They do it with a smile and face sometimes distress, confusion and anger, but they often facilitate hope and access.

“They are some of the many frontline staff of all organisations getting on with the business of caring, highly skilled and hard working.”

The council Chairman added,

“Across the world there are many women working hard, but lacking in the respect of equality and inclusion. Our wold is slowly changing but there is much yet to be achieved.  We are nothing without the women who bore us and raised us.

“Today we should give thanks to the  women of our Island and world and hope to continue making progress for inclusion and equality.

“Thank you for all our lives and the love along with the other things that only Women and our Mums can bring to us.”
