GCSE Results Day: A Chat With Five Carisbrooke Students (Podcast)

We initially met up with four Carisbrooke students – James, Hayley, Rosie and Charlie to find out how they’d done in their GCSE and what they plans for future education were.

GCSE Results Day: A Chat With Five Carisbrooke Students (Podcast)The collection of so many high grades was impressive.

James had achieved 7 A*; Rosie and Hayley – 3A* with ‘the rest’ being As; Charlie – 5 A* and a distinction, ‘the rest’ were As and a B.

A-Levels at Carisbrooke too
Each of the students wanted to stay on at Carisbrooke to take their A-Levels – interestingly they were generally the ‘classic’ subjects like Rosie, who planned to study History, Biology, Chemistry and French.

Asking Charlie about his plans for University, he appeared to have a wise head on his shoulders, “I think it is wise to start thinking about university now, but not to take it too seriously at the moment and see what you start doing at AS and how you cope at A-Level.” he planned to study Maths, Business, History, Film and English Literature.

James, like all of the others was also staying at Carisbrooke to do A-Levels in Chemistry, Biology, Maths and History.

Holly joined us near the end and she gathered an equally impressive 6 A*, 5 As and a B. Her A-levels plans are History, Psychology, French and English Literature.

Have a listen for yourself …

The island made… Read more »

It is this which makes the Island’s culture different and unique. Art is important in cataloging that. i.e at the Brading Roman Villa the mosaics artistically recorded some of what happened at the… Read more »

And another thing….
Local residents are often excluded from engagement with cultural opportunities because of cost, limited public transport, relevance and interest to them.
The above was taken from the Cultural Strategy Document. They forgot to mention that not one supermarket was targeted for consultation or local community centre, drop in centre, residential care home, or centres within the areas of deprivation. No wonder!!

Angela, as you say the document does mention transport and cost but I would like to point out that the Wight Aviation Museum is free. We rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters. Although we are supported by people as far away as New Zealand we have had no help from our local authorities. We are very grateful for the use of the hanger at Sandown… Read more »

This looks really, really good. It’s exciting where this can take the island. The potential is huge.
