Remember, back in July 2009, the Arreton HareArreton Hare sculpture
vanished one Saturday evening, having been chain-sawed off?
The theft caused much continuation and concern, leading to an appeal for its return. It was finally found on Culver Down.
Well, this week the story has been extended. The CP are reporting on page seven that one of the Island’s female police officers has been sacked for not passing on info about the theft.
Dismissed without notice
Further, the police have confirmed that a PC Therese Street was dismissed last month, without notice. The CP reports that she was arrested in March “on suspicion of arranging to handle stolen goods,” with a man, but in April decided to take no further action.
The quote from the police, “We can confirm the officer from Shanklin Police Station has been dismissed following a misconduct hearing, which found she failed to deal with information which came to to her notice regarding stolen goods.”
We did a quick search online for references to her, finding a (very small) picture of PC Therese Street on a police newsletter.
