Appeal for witnesses following serious road traffic collision at Rookley, Isle of Wight
Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision which has left a 19-year-old Godshill man in a critical condition.
Thursday around 1pm
The collision, involving a Suzuki motorcycle and a LDV Convoy truck, occurred shortly before 1pm on Thursday (Jan 20) on the A3020 Main Road at Rookley.
The motorcycle, rode by the 19-year-old, was travelling from Godshill towards Newport when it was in collision with the truck.
The rider was taken to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport with serious injuries. He remains there in a critical but stable condition.
The driver of the truck, a 55-year-old man, and the passenger, a 29-year-old man, both from East Cowes, were treated for shock at the scene.
Appeal
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw either vehicle prior to it, to call PC Geoff Turner at the Roads Policing Unit, Shanklin on 101, quoting Operation Oarfish.
