A delegated decision notice has today been released confirming that Cllr Barry Abraham has made the decision to move the fire control centre from the Isle of Wight to Surrey.
The reason given in the report for the move was
* To provide a more resilient and technologically advanced Fire Control and allow faster location of incidents, better command and control, and to improve the response times to incidents.
* To enhance the safety of the Island for residents, businesses and visitors.
The decision has a call-in period (when other councillors can request that the decision be called in for scrutiny) of no later than 5pm on 11 May.
A couple of weeks ago we spoke to the Fire Bridgade Union about the proposal, which they object to. Listen to the podcast
