Following yesterday’s football draw for the NatWest Island Games, the following statement from the committee was received this morning.
“Discussions were held yesterday evening between the members of the IGA Football Technical Committee on the interpretation of the International Island Games Byelaws in respect of the 2011 Football Draw, and the issues possibly arising in respect of the programming of matches to complete the tournament within the Games Week.
As a result of these discussions, the Technical Committee has decided to defer any decision on a possible redraw or adherence to the situation as it now stands, until week commencing Monday 9th May. The Organising Committee for the 2011 NatWest Island Games has accepted this decision and will advise the Islands and the media as soon as a decision has been made.”
The confusion over the football draw has been dubbed ‘a farce’ by at least one other Island taking place, so hopefully the problems will be resolved by next week.
