Isn’t it brilliant when you read something that really inspires you into action.
Teenager David Lewis from Ryde, had just that experience after he was given a copy of Kyle MacDonald’s ‘One Red Paperclip‘ for Christmas.
You might remember the story about Kyle’s project of trading up from something small to something bigger and better. He started with a red paperclip and ended up with a house.
Bigger and better
Now that David, who attended Ryde High, has got his A-Levels out the way, he’s decided to start a similar project to see what he’ll end up with.
He started with the nearest object to him at the time, which were a pair of children’s sports sunglasses.
Within just a few days, he has managed to swap the sunglasses for The Encyclopaedia of Tractors and Farm Machinery, then swap that for a pair of pink cowboy boots.
This was quickly traded up to a silver necklace and bracelet from a jewellers in Ryde.
Currently holding a Netbook
David had lots of offers for the chain and bracelet, but decided to take up the offer of Netbook.
There was some question as to whether the deal would come off, but David now has the Netbook (worth around £150) to trade up.
It’ll be interesting to see where this ends up. We wonder whether David will manage to trade up to a house like Kyle did.
Keep an eye on the trading by checking out his Bigger and Better blog.
