Following the sad death of Cllr Stuart Dyer last month, a Notice of Election has been published by the Isle of Wight council.
Word reaches us that the main political parties are believed to be urgently selecting their candidates.
Chris Whitehouse, who recently led campaigns to protect sixth form travel concessions and travel to Christ the King College for West Wight pupils, has this morning declined to comment on rumours that he may be considering standing as a candidate in the by-election.
Anyone wishing to stand as a county councillor should complete a nomination form and return to County Hall by Friday 21st October.
