After two hours at full council of speeches and debate, members put the three proposed budgets to the vote.
The ruling party’s budget received the most votes with all Tories (23) voting for for the proposals. Thirteen members (all opposition) voted against the proposals.
Labour’s budget amendment had twelve votes in favour, two abstentions and 22 voting against it.
Despite some Tory members saying there were parts of the Independent budget they thought were very good, all 23 Tory members voted against it, with thirteen opposition members voting in favour.
It was clearly a ‘Conservatives against the rest of the council’ night!
