The fire crews that started fighting the fire at Ryde Castle at around 10pm last night have just issued the offical stop message, signifying that they’re content that the fire is actually extinguished.
The twelve plus hours have been carried out by the same crews of fire fighters that were taking part last night. Relief crews joined them this morning.
Shellie Hill got in touch with VB this morning with photos (above and below) that she took at 6:05am today, where she reported that there was, “Still a small amount of flames are coming from above the bar section of the hotel Ryde Castle.”
Salvage now operation underway
The salvage operation is now starting in the East Wing, although this is being done in ‘Defensive mode’, ie from the outside due to the poor structure inside from the intense fire that saw the tower collapse last night.
The council’s building control officer have been requested to survey the building to get a detailed understanding of it.
