Cabinet consider PFI bidder, music service, school exclusions and finances

Next week’s Cabinet meeting has a mixed agenda on the cards for members to consider (6pm on 21 August at County Hall).

Gavel:As well as signing off approval for the appointment of the chosen Highways PFI Service Provider, Vinci Concessions and Ringway, Cabinet members will also be asked to approve a public consultation on the future of the Isle of Wight Music Service.

In addition, they will receive an update from the new Secondary School providers on persistent absence and exclusions and perhaps most interestingly for some, will be the Resources Quarterly Performance and Finance Report, which makes reference to the Council Tax Freeze Grant.

Perhaps some detail would be useful here. Where are the sites that need this service? How much mail will be delivered. Why do a trial in two of the driest months of the year? Why not try it in december and january when it is cold, wet and icy? What will the people do who are currently deployed on this task? Is this a cost effective way… Read more »

Why do we need these so called bikes, the rest of the world seems to be able to function electronically with nearly all thier mail?

Or is it all linked to the fact that the the Isle of Wight Councils new £765,000 website that has been delayed and doesn’t work?
