Way back in April, On The Wight was lucky enough to meet the rather lovely Phill Jupitus.
Having been fans of his comedic appearances for many years on Radio4’s News Quiz and BBC2’s Never Mind the Buzzcocks, we were chuffed to meet the man in person for a chinwag before his performance at the 2012 Isle of Arts Festival.
We held off publishing the recording until the re-branding of VentnorBlog to On The Wight (for reasons that will become obvious near the end of the interview).
Today seemed a good day to air the interview given that Phill talks at length about live radio bloomers and if you tuned into this morning’s BBCR4 Today programme, that’ll all make sense to you.
He also talks fondly of his two years performing at Bestival, working on TV and radio, whether he has aspirations to start a production company and the tattoo of Vectis on the back of his neck (listen to find out if it’s true).
