The Isle of Wight from Space

Many thanks to all the OnTheWight readers (on and off the Island) who shared this fantastic photo of the Isle of Wight from Space by Commander Chris Hadfield.

Canadian Astronaut, Chris, is currently orbiting the Earth in the International Space Station as Commander of Expedition 35 (the first Canadian to have the honor of doing this).

“Looks like a jigsaw piece”
Yesterday he tweeted the photo of the Island, saying, “The Isle of Wight looks like a jigsaw piece that needs to be moved up and in.”

About neighbouring Southampton, he said, “Southampton, UK, easy to see what a good natural port it is from orbit.”

How cool it must be to wake up in the morning and your first tweet be, “Hello Earth”.

Looking forward to the possibility of more photos of the Isle of Wight from Space.

For more info about the Chris’ work, see the Canadian Space Agency Website.
