Thanks to Bob from the Ventnor Business Association for this update from the EGM held last month. Ed
We are pleased to confirm that a successful and well attended EGM/AGM was held on Wednesday 27th March. Members present represented a wide cross section of local businesses and a strong and enthusiastic Executive Committee was elected.
New Executive Committee
In the Chair Bob Ventress (Ingrams Building Contractors); Vice Chair Ann Hutchins (Windsor Carlton Guest Accommodation); Secretary Linda Chester (Bizzy Lizzy’s); Treasurer Wendy Levett (Oh So Vintage); PR John Whatley (South Wight TV); Michael Edwards (Distinctive Designs) and Sue Cooper (Ventnor Putting Green).
There was a real enthusiasm to take the VBA forward, to gain the strength of membership necessary to give effect to any representations made on behalf of the Local Business Community.
Whilst there are many issues to be properly identified and addressed it is the Association’s intent to prioritise and manage those issues to the best solution available within our remit.
Action to be taken
The meeting recommended the following actions to be undertaken:
- To update and take forward the Visitor Map.
- To develop and complete the Love Ventnor website
- To consider the award of £10,000 from the Portas Bid. This will be an ongoing programme to be taken forward by the VBA engaging with the Business Community as a whole.
Ventnor has a wealth of experience, knowledge and talent within the 150 or so businesses in Ventnor town. It is the VBA’s desire to utilise those resources, whether individual, small, medium or larger businesses – as the occasion demands – to assist in the taking forward of the Town to the benefit of the whole community.
Let’s be 100% with each other!
Next meeting
You are invited to join us at the next members meeting to be held on, Wednesday 17th April in the Baptist Church – 6.00pm for a prompt 6.30pm start.
Light refreshments will be provided.
It is understood that not all members will be able to attend all meetings, and in some cases not any meetings; but your opinions, ideas, and communications will always be valued.
Thank you, Bob Ventress (Chair, Ventnor Business Association)
