Isle of Wight musical renegades, Headfunk, have got a treat in store for all those heading to this year’s Isle of Wight festival.
As you may’ve read previously, this year there’s a new addition to the festival offering in the form of the Bohemian Woods.
They say this is somewhere for “all free-spirited festival-goers to experience the mix of peace, love and tranquillity by day and electrifying vibrant performances & DJs by night.”
Well, our very own Headfunk have been tasked to curate the entertainment in a beautiful Moroccan tent, even with its own bar.
Packed programme
Acts confirmed so far include Thursday night headliner and UK hip hop legend DJ Format playing an exclusive latin and world beat set.
Friday night sees a very full stage as the amazing Hackney Colliery Band bring their mix of Balkan, New Orleans and proper colliery brass action with DJ support from WahWah 45s label boss (home of HCB) Dom Servini.
Showcasing local talent
Saturday has a packed programme with everything from bluegrass to afrobeat including live turns from Fellowship of Groove, Plastic Mermaids and headliners Resonators filling the woods with their incredible live dub/reggae plus DJ sets from The Busy Twist and Aaron Fletcher (The Bees).
Sunday sees more eclectic wonders from Ergo Phizmiz’s crazy take on music to Playboy Club residents and Gilles Peterson favourite The Greg Foat Group closing the tent with DJ support from their label boss Jazzman Gerald (Jazzman Records).
If you go down in the woods today you’re sure of a big surprise.
