The long-awaited headliners for this year's Isle of Wight Festival have been announced by IW Fest HQ this morning.

The Isle of Wight Festival was brought back to life by the Isle of Wight council and John Giddings has gone on to develop it in to a very large event.
Many large acts have now performed at the Seaclose Park site.
After last year's Isle of Wight festival Newport's Quay Bridge was closed to traffic. OnTheWight has been trying to find out from the council what they think led to the closure. Finally, after six weeks, they've answered.

The Isle of Wight council say that future use of the popular footpath/cycle route by Festival organisers will be reviewed following the damage caused during this year's event.

The bridge has been closed since the end of the Isle of Wight Festival last year, but following negotiations between the council and Festival organisers, a temporary bridge went in today - until 27th June. There's hope it might stay longer.
