We often recommend our readers put their feet up for ten minutes or so and take a look through the wonderful shots in our Flickr Group Pool.
Well, if you were to follow our advice, you’d need a bit more than ten minutes these days, because the Pool now has more than 20,000 images taken around the Isle of Wight (thanks to Chad for pointing this out).
Founded in 2005
We started the Flickr Group back in 2005 and every week, photographers, professional and amateur, share their shots taken around the Island by adding them to our Flickr Group Pool.
The range of shots is really diverse. As you’d expect there are many landscape shots, nature, sports, portraits and animals, as well as abstract and experimental images.
So who are our top contributors?
We’re grateful to everyone who shares their photographs, but especially the prolific contributors
- Jason Swain (aka) s0ulsurfing with 2,343
- The Good Fairy @Wightmagik Photography with 1,405
- Frattonparker (Ben Tonner) with 804
- Ian Johnston with 803
- Chalkie (aka Graham White) with 688
Other prolific IW groups
As well as our Flickr Group, the Isle of Wight Group now has just under 40,000 photographs with relatively newby, Isle of Wight – Living There, catching up fast with over 11,000 images.
Picture of the Week
As regular readers will know, each week we choose one shot from the Pool to highlight through OnTheWight as a way of saying thank you to the contributors for sharing their images with us all.
See the latest Picture of the Week awards.
Now, if you have a spare day or so, why not take a look through the Flickr Group pool. We’re sure you’ll agree it’s quite amazing.
