We regret to announce that following a site inspection this morning, we have reluctantly decided to cancel this year’s hedgelaying competition because of concerns for the health and safety of competitors and visitors.
This is because of the prolonged wet weather and likely windy conditions. Although the hedge itself is reasonably high up this year the car parking and access areas are quite the opposite, and the forecast for the next week is for more of the same weather we are currently enjoying.
The site was to be at New Barn Farm, Calbourne, on Saturday 22nd February 2014. As we are unable to find another site which does not suffer from the same conditions at this time, no event will be held this year. This is the first time such a step has proven necessary, and I am sure you will appreciate that we have not taken this decision lightly. So many thanks to the sponsors and those competitors who have already volunteered their support this year – please hold onto that enthusiasm as the competition will return in 2015!
