Keith Newbery, known for his opinion pieces inside the Weekender section of the County Press, has died.
His life-long journalism career started as a junior reporter on the now defunct Isle of Wight Times in his home town of Ryde in the mid-1960s.
Later he became the founding-editor of the former Isle of Wight Weekly Post, before working with mainland regional papers.
He published a book in 2003 called ‘Hacking It’: Tales of a Very Provincial Newspaper Journalist.
Keith received an MBE for services to journalism in 2004.
Thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues.
