Cowes Yacht Haven has purchased a new mobile crane that will safely lift boats weighing up to 15 tons as part of a £300,000 programme of investment.
Improving boatyard services
The crane will improve the boatyard services already available at Cowes Yacht Haven, which is home to international regattas and sailing events such as Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week, and will allow for a wider range of customers to make use of the lift and launch packages. The crane joins the wealth of existing facilities and services at the marina, including a 30 ton hoist, on site engineers, boat repairers and electricians.
Major reinvestment
Cowes Yacht Haven is substantially reinvesting in the marina this year, having also recently refurbished its two ton Hiab crane to make storing boats ashore as simple as possible. The refurbishment will ensure the crane operates at its maximum potential for lifting small dry sailboats such as Dragons, Etchells, RS Elites and RIBs, masts and engines.
A major dredging project is also underway to maintain depths of up to 7.5m during high tides and a minimum of 3.5m even in low tides, allowing the marina to continue to cater for both small superyachts and large boats.
