It’s day two of the AAA Records annual Awards.
Over the coming week or so AAA, based in Scarrot’s Lane Newport, will be announcing 11 winners who’ll be presented with the unique AAA Records gold disc.
Yesterday saw Jayden Hitchcock from EarsPeeled pick up the Award for Best live Event, now it’s Best Album time.
This year the winner is It’s Not Comfortable To Grow by Plastic Mermaids.
Barding: An avant-garde, high dancin’ psychedelic masterpiece
Andy Barding from AAA Records explains,
“That difficult second album syndrome presented no resistance at all to our colourful friends, who threw this psychedelic masterstroke onto our collective pavements like a bucket of sloppy, rainbow-coloured sick a couple of months ago.
“It’s an avant-garde, high dancin’ psychedelic masterpiece: think Floyd, think Lips, think Spree, think Sufjan. Think fireworks and beach parties.
“Staggering live appearances at in-stores, festivals and their own Field Party underlined what we already knew – the Mermaids go further than anybody else in their pursuit of artistic goals that are themselves way beyond normal human comprehension.
“Well done, boys. You pulled a doozy out of the hat.”
By chance, bass player Tom Farren, happened to pop into AAA records on Scarrot’s Lane on Friday for a browse and was able to pick up his band’s goldie lookin’ disc in person.
Look out for the next announcement, coming this way soon.
