AAA Records Awards showcases best of Isle of Wight’s music scene #1

It’s that time of year again, when Isle of Wight independent record shop, AAA Records announce their annual awards.

Over the coming week or so AAA, based in Scarrot’s Lane Newport, will be announcing 11 winners who’ll be presented with the unique AAA Records gold disc.

The Awards are a chance for Isle of Wight musicians and song writers to be recognised for their outstanding contributions to the Island’s thriving music scene.

The Pete Holden Award for Best Live Event
Up first Andy Barding from AAA Records was pleased to announce music promoter, Jayden Hitchcock (pictured left) of EarsPeeled as the first award-winner.

Jayden was presented with the very special Pete Holden Award for Best Live Event by Joe Perry from Coach Party.

Regular readers will be aware of Jayden’s regular live music events reported here at News OnTheWight over the last couple of years. Earlier this year at Ventnor Fringe, EarsPeeled hosted a cracking eight or nine hours of live music.

Barding: They absolutely smashed it
Andy Barding from AAA records shared the news,

“Our very first AAA Award for 2022 is the very special Pete Holden Award for Best Live Event and you won’t be surprised to learn it goes to Jayden Hitchcock of EarsPeeled for the summer sensation that was EarsPeeled at Ventnor Fringe!

“The best the Isle of Wight has to offer gathered for an amazing day in a clifftop Big Top back in July.

“Oh boy… Plastic Mermaids, Romy Helen, Cheap Teeth, Coach Party, Froglands PK and more. They absolutely smashed it on that day.

“It was an advance sell-out, of course. Which is a tribute to the Island’s growing talent pool and to Jay’s foresight and hard graft!

“Will there be another one next year? Here’s hoping! Congratulations, Jay. Enjoy your reward.”

Keep your eyes peeled for the next instalment of the AAA Records Awards 2022.
