It’s day three of the AAA Records annual Awards.
Over the coming week or so AAA, based in Scarrot’s Lane Newport, will be announcing 11 winners who’ll be presented with the unique AAA Records gold disc.
So far we have seen Jayden Hitchcock from EarsPeeled pick up the Award for Best live Event, and Plastic Mermaids take the prize for Album of the Year.
Isle of Wight Music Legend
Up next is the award for Isle of Wight Music Legend. Andy Barding explained,
“Today we pick our Isle of Wight Music Legend. Oh my gosh… that’s just got to be Dick Taylor!
“His story is legion and legend. Sixty – count them all – years ago, he was in a three piece rocking outfit with Michael Jagger and Keith Richards. Along came Brian Jones and college, and Dick turned into a Pretty Thing.
“The rest is a whole lot of history. From SF Sorrow to the first Hawkwind album and very much beyond, Dick has been a universal constant of stylish, swaggering British rock and roll.
“And we lucky pups get to see him more than most. Dick is often out there, shredding away like an utter rockboss, be that at Rhythmtree or the Railway.
“We were honoured to have him visit the shop this week. First thing he asked us was “Got any Mekons?”
“We salute Dick. What a star. Congratulations on winning our first ever Isle of Wight Music Legend goldie lookin’ disc.”
