Wightlink comes under scrutiny as £77m profits since 2017 revealed and £8m paid in dividends in 2022, despite public subsidy; an investigation by the Department for Transport is urged
Wightlink provide ferry services to the Isle of Wight. They operate car ferry services from two Island ports, Yarmouth and Fishbourne, as well as a foot passenger services from the end of the pier in Ryde.
Wightlink’s Yarmouth car ferry lands in Lymington. The other two services land in Portsmouth.
The ferry service was bought by Australian-based investment bank, Macquarie, in 2005 for just over £230m.
