Environment Editor of The Independent, Michael McCarthy visited the Island last week in search of butterflies.
The Glanville Fritillary butterfly has been found on the Isle of Wight – something to celebrate as it’s a rare sight in the UK.
It is virtually restricted to coastal landslips on the southern half of the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands along with a few coastal locations on the mainland.
