The council say more than 18,600 homes and businesses in mainly rural areas of the Isle of Wight now have access to faster fibre broadband speeds as a result of the Island’s rural broadband project.
BT were chosen in September 2013 as the preferred bidder for the Isle of Wight Rural Broadband Project.
A budget of £3m was approved for the project which was due for completion in September 2015.
The project was completed in August 2016 with a £1.7m underspend.
