Most councillors argued the controversial Trade Union Bill would damage the currently-good relations between the council and officers. Conservatives councillors stuck to the Government line.
Jonathan Bacon was elected in 2013 as Isle of Wight Councillor for Brading, St Helens and Bembridge. He was also Executive Member for Children’s Services and Corporate Governance and later became leader of the IWC.
He stood for reelection in 2017 but failed to gain enough votes. He was then elected as an Our Island councillor for Brading & St Helens and joined the Alliance Group to take power of County Hall. He is the Cabinet Member for Environment, Heritage and Waste Management.
