ACOUSTIC ORIGINALS

Continuing its successful run at growing the original music scene, Acoustic Originals invites songwriters and anyone interested in acoustic music to come along for FREE on Monday 23 June in the Cafe at Quay Arts.

ACOUSTIC ORIGINALSThe evening is hosted by the Centre Director, Mick Smith, a songwriter himself and last months was particularly well-received.

It featured Australian singer-songwriter Andrea Soler, who currently lives in Bournemouth – she came over to the Island and wowed the audience at Acoustic Originals on 19th May with her up beat delivery and strong song writing skills.

Andrea was the latest of a series of mainland musicians to showcase their work at Acoustic Originals, the showcase for quality song writing at Quay Arts, which has also helped showcase and develop a host of island singer songwriters and bands.

This evening featured David Hughes and Graham McCullough, both excellent writers and performers, Dave Ballard, with his traditional sound somewhat reminiscent of 60’s folk songs and Kelly Groves, a very talented female singer and songwriter.

Quay Arts will be hosting a marquee at the Isle of Wight Festival and will be featuring a number of Acoustic Originals artists as part of the entertainment provided.

The next evening at Quay Arts on June 23rd will feature new young talent, such as Max Edermaniger and Glenn Copany amongst others and is completely free as usual. The July session (21st July, which is the last Acoustic Originals night in the current series) will be held in the theatre and recorded live for potential release.

Emerging and established songwriters and performers are welcomed to perform at these informal and relaxed sessions hosted by the Centre Director, Mick Smith, a songwriter himself. If you would like to perform please contact Mick asap at the Quay on 822490 or email at m.smith(at)quayarts.org
