The band members from Grade2

Ahead of album release, Isle of Wight punk band, Grade 2, release latest single

It’s a busy time for homegrown music on the Isle of Wight at the moment, with a new release from yet another talented Island band.

Grade 2 first got together when they were just 14 years old, covering the music of punk pioneers.

A decade later and the Island lads, Sid Ryan (bass and vocals), Jack Chatfield (guitar and vocals) and Jacob Hull (drums) have developed a great uplifting sound that’s full of raw energy.

Long-awaited fourth album
The band have been working for the last three years (Covid got in the way) on their self-titled fourth album, Grade 2, which is due for release on 17th February 2023.

This will be the second album released under the legendary Hellcat Records label. The Californian punk record label was founded by Tim Armstrong from Rancid.

Under the Streetlight
The latest single from the yet-to-released album is Under the Streetlight. Speaking to the struggles many will relate to, the track has been bumping around in my head since I first heard it last week (thanks to Tracy Mikich for the heads up).

It’s accompanied by a great music video, directed by Ryan Mackfall and shot entirely in Ryde, featuring with Ethan Cole in the lead role.

Check it out and hopefully it will bring a smile to your face and lift you up if you’re feeling low
