TV personality and Island resident Alan Titchmarsh has pledged his support for this year’s Lights of Love campaign in memory of the thousands of people that are loved and missed by their family and friends at Christmas.
The annual event also raises much-needed funds for Earl Mountbatten Hospice to support Island families going through difficult times.
Dedicate a light
The Island’s community is invited to dedicate a light on the Earl Mountbatten Hospice Christmas tree, which will be lit up at a special Lights of Love service being held at 4pm on Sunday 4 December at the Hospice.
Alan said:
“When I visited Earl Mountbatten Hospice this summer to open the new Chelsea Garden, I witnessed first-hand the care and love surrounding patients and their families. This special garden has been created as a focal point for the community to create good memories and find peace and tranquility during challenging times.
“Lights of Love provides another way for the community to find comfort and solace with others, at this festive time of year.
“Being a local resident, it is very clear how much people are touched by the care the Hospice provides and how dearly it is held in the hearts of Islanders. Please do support Lights of Love; it is a wonderful way to celebrate the lives of friends and family members who are no longer with us and to offer much needed support to the Hospice.”

Other Lights of Love services are being held across the Island, including a service at Newport Minster at 7pm on Friday 2 December.
Jax Jones, Major Events Fundraiser, said:
“Christmas is a special time of year but it can also be a difficult time when someone you care about has died. We know how important it is to do something in their memory, and we hope Lights of Love gives Islanders the opportunity to come together and support each other.”
