Christmas will be coming early to Ventnor this year. A week and a half early.
Saturday sees a new charity event take place in the town. It’s the result of a collaboration between Ventnor Carnival, Ventnor Town Council and Ventnor Business Association who have all got together to organise an action-packed fun day for Ventnor visitors and residents alike.
Plenty to see and do
We’re told there’ll be masses going on all day in the town, including Santa visiting the town, Christmas market stalls, carols, street entertainers, mince pies, festive fancy dress, crafts, mulled wine, jazz, circus skills – they’ll be something for everyone!
Performers will include the Isle of Wight Scottish Fiddlers, the Fat Samba Band, a circus skills performer, a portrait artist, the Blood Stone Morris Dancers, the Bonchurch Singers and the Vectis Corp of Drums.
Live music from Hentai Babies
Not forgetting the excellent Hentai Babies who will be playing in the shop window of Church Street Motorcycles at 1.30pm.
What’s even better, everything is free of charge (but feel free to make donations to the charity boxes).
Ventnor Comic Jazz Band lead the procession
The day will end with the Christmas Carnival Procession and Lantern Parade, led around the town by the Ventnor Comic Jazz Band.
The procession will end in Ventnor Park, where the Bonchurch Village Singers will lead the carols and Ventnor Enhancement Fund will have a supply of mulled wine and mince pies on hand to bring the day to a close in true Christmas spirit.
Free shuttle bus service
A free shuttle bus service will be available to all passengers, running in and around Ventnor. Southern Vectis are kindly providing one of their new vehicles and driver John Killick has volunteered for the day.
