All welcome to festive Short Story Competition awards ceremony

Sight for Wight’s short story writing competition is back after the success of last year’s event which produced some very high quality entries, despite lockdown and everything being ‘virtual’.

This is the 13th year of the competition; originally started by patrons, RC Bridgestock, international crime writing authors.

Hear winning stories read by celebrities
As with the previous award ceremonies, the fundraising event will include entertainment and, of course, the opportunity to hear extracts from the winning stories.

This year they have been recorded by celebrities Richard Cadell (Sooty and Sweep), comedian Mark Simmons, actress Bethannie Hare (Hollyoaks) and television producer/writer, Dominic Minghella.

This year’s theme is ‘The Sea’.

Cane: Extra entertainment
Competition Organiser, Chris Cane, said,

“This is a great opportunity for budding Island writers to become published authors; we’ll be presenting some amazing prizes to our winners.

“We are excited to have four celebrity readers, who have generously given their time to record the winning stories, plus we’ve added more entertainment for the evening so I am delighted to announce our line up consisting of Sounds Lively (choir), Ben Stubbs (singer/guitarist) and magic from Stevo the Magician who have all kindly donated their time for us.

“I am delighted that we are able to host the evening ‘live’ and not virtual as we have done so for the last two years due to Covid. You don’t have to be an entrant to come along to the Ceremony; you can just turn up and enjoy the free entertainment. It’s fun; it’s festive; it’s free!”
