When 14 year old Ventnor girl Annie Leonard first told us earlier this year, that she had an exhibition coming up at Dimbola Lodge, we were mightily impressed.
To see someone of that age showing enough passion and dedication to the art of photography was really heartwarming.
Her enthusiasm touched us and after seeing the quality of her shots at the exhibition, we decided that when the right time came, we’d love to offer Annie an opportunity to shoot for VentnorBlog.
Annie’s not your typical 14 year old by any means. Sure, she’s into music and fashion like many other teenagers, but how many do you know who are wearing Biba inspired vintage dresses, reading Arthur Miller and have Terry Hall as their hero?
Talking of which, and credit where credit’s due, it was Annie who told us a couple of weeks ago that she thought that The Specials might be reforming to play Bestival.
After a little digging of our own digging we were able to confirm that they were in fact reforming ‘to play a UK festival in September 2008’ – perhaps Bestival.
Over the Bestival weekend, you might see Annie in the photographer’s pit of the main stage, shooting alongside the national newspaper’s photographers, but she’ll also be wandering around the festival site, keen to capture the essence of the Bestival, that is, the Bestival goers.
If she asks to take your shot, make her day and give her a big smile.
