Only get tested on the Island
Residents are reminded that tests are available for those with Covid-19 symptoms and to ensure you are tested on the Isle of Wight.
The main symptoms of Coronavirus are:
- a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
- Most people with Coronavirus have at least one of these symptoms. Book via the NHS.
Delta variant
Symptoms of the Delta variant have been described in the ZOE Symptom App as:
- Headaches
- Sore throats
- Runny noses
- Fever
Hands, face, space and fresh air
Covid-19 is still a very risky disease. Our actions affect ourselves, our loved ones and the rest of our Island community.
The Isle of Wight council reminds residents that we all need to play our part to help keep the Island safe.
- Meet outdoors where possible and let fresh air into homes or other enclosed spaces.
- Wear a mask where appropriate, such as in crowded and indoor areas.
- If you don’t have symptoms, take regular rapid response LFT tests. This will help us all stay safe.
- Self-isolate and take a PCR test when you get symptoms.
- Support NHS Test and Trace. Self isolate when required and share details of your contacts when asked.
- Get fully vaccinated. You can make appointments or go to a walk-in clinic.
- Keep washing your hands regularly with soap or hand sanitiser.
- Limit close contact with people you don’t usually live with, and increase close contact slowly.
- Support local business and stick to their Covid rules. Use the NHS Covid Pass and NHS Covid-19 app when asked to do so.
- Be patient and kind to others.
- If you need support or advice contact the Isle of Wight Covid-19 helpline on 01983 823600.
If you do not have symptoms but want to get tested, you can do this by picking up a test kit from a pharmacist or by ordering the home test kit. More details on the Keep the Island Safe Website.
