Did you see what happened to the man before he collapsed? Ed
Police are appealing for information after concerns were raised about the welfare of a man in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight.
Officers were called at 4.17pm on Monday, November 29, 2010 to the junction of Landguard Road and Green Lane where a group of people had gathered around a man who appeared to have collapsed in the road.
Members of the public gave assistance to the 30-year-old man before an ambulance took him to hospital. He had not received any serious injuries.
Investigating officer PC Ben Mitchell of the Isle of Wight’s Targeted Patrol Teams (TPT) said: “The exact circumstances surrounding this situation are not clear. It is possible the man fell in the road, but police officers at the scene were made aware of suggestions from the community that he’d been assaulted.
“Therefore, we are keen to hear from witnesses who think they may have seen an assault or any people whose behaviour caused concern in the Landguard Road or Green Lane area of Shanklin at around four o’clock on Monday, November 29.”
